Fairyopolis Productions

What do you get when you have three super smart kids with great imaginations? Katie, Keith & Morgan all worked together in Sitka to build this Fairy City. Unfortunately, Katie & Keith had gone home, so only Morgan stars in this tour, but they all worked equally hard on it!

Date Night

I didn't make it to the gym, but I did take a nice walk around Auke Lake instead (I wouldn't have had time to shower if I had gone to the gym and gotten all sweaty before our date!).

It was high time we had a date! We went to El Sombrero for dinner (one of my favorite restaurants). A good friend waits tables there on Friday nights, so we got seated her in her section and had a chance to catch up a bit.

We went to go see Law Abiding Citizen it was a great movie. A tad gorey, but great story line!

Date night was great - not even one call from the kidos!

Alaska Day Observed

Yesterday was Alaska Day, so I had Monday off in observance. It was Kevin regularly scheduled day off, and Morgan had school (Devyn did not). Kevin has never had a massage, so I arranged a couples' massage. Since he has treated me to so many over the years, I thought it would be fun to share the experience! We both enjoyed a great massage, and I think Kevin would love another one!

We did get a workout in before the massage - so 38 down!

Devyn went to play paintball with youth group and had a blast! She got shot in the face (was wearing mask etc.), but that didn't leave a mark. She has a few other welts on her.

For dinner we made Uncle Fred's Turtle Bean (black bean soup). It was yummy, and Morgan had four bowls!!!!

Successful Sunday!

Day 2 down, 38 to go! Morgan and I took a nice long walk around Auke Lake, it was a little drizzly, but we had fun!

I made a pot roast that was yummy! I did some experimenting and made mock-mashed potatoes using steamed cauliflower. We all agreed they turned out very good. I also made a salad like I had never made before. It was tomato, cucumbers, red onions with a rice wine vinegar-olive oil drizzle. Everyone like that too!

We had our neighbor and Grandma Chris over for dinner, so had great company!!!

An Evening at the Theater

We went with Grandma Chris to see the high school's production of Little Shop of Horrors. Kevin was feeling under the weather (but he escaped a full-blown stomach bug), so he stayed home. The show was great, and we all had a great time! They did a great job with the play, and Morgan was forever trying to figure out how the plant was working in its various sizes. Here is Mo's ensemble:

Day 1

I made it to the gym today! 1 day down, 39 to go!

Morgan Cheers

So Morgan went to a cheer camp Thursday, and was suppose to go on Friday (no school Thursday or Friday), but got a stomach bug. While at camp on Thursday, the paper stopped by, and Morgan got her picture in Friday's paper. She was crushed when she woke up sick on Friday, and realized she wouldn't be able to perform in the parent performance Friday afternoon, but I think that this picture helps make up for it! Their cheerleader captains also decorated the girls' shirts, so I went by after Kevin got home to pick hers up.

Stomach Bug Ruins Challenge

First I was struck by the stomach bug, and now Morgan! It is horrible! We have both recuperated (Morgan threw up 8 times in 4 1/2 hours - thankfully hitting a bowl all 8 times!). I let Morgan lay in our bed to watch TV, and Kevin was mortified! I told him he could go stay in a hotel, but he was afraid that he might not ever want to come back. So after Mo was feeling a bit better I kicked her out and stripped the bed. I have also gone over all surfaces several times with disinfecting wipes, in hopes of sparing Kevin & Devyn what we have been through!

So I will start tomorrow (Saturday) with my new challenge. My sister-in-law explained on her blog that it takes 40 days to form a habit, so I will now do the 40-day challenge, starting tomorrow!

Also, take a look at the Loree's Family Blog (to the right) and you can see their marvelous creations from our tie-dye fest.

Baby it's cold outside

But I made it to the gym for day 2 - with my Kevin & Mo! Dev had youth group, so she was excused!

Sometimes the star align .......

and people come and take both of your children away! While on a quick trip to the store and then the harbor to gather supplies for shrimp tacos, Devyn got a babysitting gig and Mo got an invite to movies with her BFF! Leave Kevin in charge for 15 minutes and he's pawned them off!!!! So we are going to enjoy a nice quiet shrimp taco dinner without the children!

This morning the girls and I went over to the Loree's house for some Halloween tie-dying. It was such a blast. We had a breakfast buffet before we started, because creative juices flow better on a full stomache! Of course no pictures were taken of the actual tie-dying (hands very busy), but I will post the fabulous creations when they have been rinsed and washed! My family will be quite proud of the fact that we all wore gloves, and my hands won't be stained for MONTHS!!!!!

What the Heck?

Morgan and I went to Costco this afternoon. It was right after school, so Morgan had the "I was good all day at school and sat in my seat" wiggles, but she was being very good. She kept her hand on the cart the whole time, and she was just singing/talking to herself. I was paying attention, truly I was! I was enjoying the opportunity to shop without reminding Mo to keep stay with me, keep her hands off all the merchandise, etc., while keeping half on ear on Morgan - I can tell you that she was singing She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes, at super chipmunk speed. This kind of constant background noise that is Mo does not bother me, and I actually have come to enjoy it. As we rounded a corner in front of a sample display, the worker looked at her and said "what the heck?" That's right, she's non-stop for 12 hours, but thankfully she sleeps for the other 12 - and I wouldn't trade her for the world!
